Back in our college days, Jonas started designing shirts and selling them. He called his "business" Ageless. Over the years he has done some shirts here and there and had some ideas to do more, but it never really went anywhere. However the name always stuck. When him and his friend started a BMX team they called it Ageless.
About a month before Remi was due, Jonas started talking about this idea to start a mobile bike shop since no one in the state was doing one currently. It surprisingly didn't take much convincing for me to be on board. We have often talked about owning our own business but aren't really the biggest risk-takers. This seemed like a great opportunity for us to have our own business without putting everything we own into it.
Let me just say, starting a business is not easy! There were so many things that took SO LONG that were completely out of our control. Not to mention we had a baby, a 4-year-old, our own day jobs, house projects, and Jonas being out of town a lot on top of it. The trailer we had built was supposed to take 3-4 weeks, and we didn't end up getting it for over 2 months. Needless to say, we were very glad when we finally had the trailer and could get everything put together.
Of course, we got the trailer 2 days before a race weekend so it was a bit of a mad rush. Larry came up and helped us, and we had a pretty decent presentation for our first race!
It's crazy how such a little amount of items cost so much! We are very realistic about the fact that it will take us some time to get the trailer and our inventory where we would like it.
I had to get a family picture at our first night of running the business at the track!
I always said we would never have those "track rat" kids that run around and do whatever they want at the races. Joke is on me. Remi didn't sleep very well at all, but she will have to get used to it! It will be better too when she isn't dependent on me for food and can hang with family while we are at the track.
Hadley had a little gang of friends in the trailer for much of the weekend, when she wasn't running around like a track rat.
When we say we have a family business, we mainly just mean we use child labor. Works for us.
We have had lots of support so far and are excited where this will take us in the future!
